Sustainability is an increasingly important topic in Japan, and City-Tech.Tokyo is leading the way in making Tokyo a more livable and sustainable city.

The country is at the forefront of sustainability initiatives, focusing on reducing environmental impacts, conserving natural resources, and finding ways to reduce waste and emissions.

It has also become a leader in green buildings, with numerous green buildings and LEED-certified buildings across the country. As the world continues to face the challenges of climate change, Japan is an example of how sustainability can be successfully implemented.

With this in mind, City-Tech.Tokyo was created to be part of this Initiative.

What is City-Tech.Tokyo

City-Tech.Tokyo is a global event for entrepreneurs, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has made the first step in the right direction by hosting it. As part of the ‘Future Tokyo Strategy,’ the all-encompassing plan of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the event will also promote Tokyo’s new startup strategy, ‘Global Innovation with Startups,’ to make Tokyo the world’s number one startup center by 2040.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is taking the lead on a worldwide startup event for the first time. Over twenty countries, including major cities in Japan, will exhibit. More than two-thirds of the companies are interested in City-Tech.Tokyo is based outside of Japan.

Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support (DTVS), whose mission is to “create the future alongside innovators,” wasted no effort in ensuring the event’s success. Yuma Saito, DTVS’s CEO, has played a key role in developing startup guidelines and assisting multinational organizations in launching new enterprises worldwide.

Large corporations, as well as industry and city officials, will be highly represented at this event. Japan needs these key players to be present in the same place for open innovation in a smart city, which could draw international startups to Japan.

The Initiative of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is to make Tokyo the world’s most startup-friendly city.

Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s startup-friendly Initiative

Tokyo just released a startup-friendly policy. The strategy aims to grow the number of entrepreneurs by 10 times, expand their reach by 10 times, and increase public-private partnerships by 10 times.

The Tokyo Metropolitan government is seeking startup funding. CB Insights found that Japanese CVCs are among the top 10; Japan’s CVC investment hasn’t decreased despite a global funding winter due to interest rate hikes. Thus, Japan’s growth and economic prosperity.

The Japanese government plans to invest 1 trillion yen over its five-year startup plan, and major firms will continue to invest in startups worldwide course of its five-year startup plan.
